about

Getting new gear is awesome. This is the first song where we put a lot of Moog Sub 37 synthesizer after Tony bought one. It changed the whole thing from a weird quiet demo I had done in my room to the catchy road-trip song it is now. It’s a Franken-song because it’s made of parts from two (maybe more) different tunes. I guess it’s just a simple love song. It’s about the fears of new love but also the highs and confidence that comes with it. I remember I wrote the verses really early in the morning: woke up, went outside with my guitar, watched the lake and strummed for a while, came up with the melody and went back to sleep. The chorus was written a couple months before, the day after a wild show. I had lost my voice and I remember I recorded the melody on my phone and you could hear I was struggling with it. It sounded pretty cool! – Élie Raymond

lyrics

I’m waiting for the moment you tell me:
“Hit the road and don’t look back”
You’re waiting for the moment I tell you:
“I’m hitting the road and won’t come back”
But even if the highway is my baby,
It wants me dead when I’m riding its back
So believe me when I hold you close,
I’m not here to quit; I’ve got your back

I want to shut up ‘cause I’d rather hear your voice
In the darkness of the long long way back home
I want to fall asleep singing softly slowly
In the darkness of the long long way back home

Let’s break everything in our way
Just to find more things to break
Let’s believe things that don’t make sense
‘Cause love sells as much as heartbreak
Let’s have our skin filled with scratch marks
And our hearts about to break
With our adopted hometown
Confining us until we break

I want to shut up ‘cause I’d rather hear your voice
In the darkness of the long long way back home
I want to fall asleep singing softly slowly
In the darkness of the long long way back home

Ahah, ahah, ahah
Ahah, ahah, Ahah

I want to shut up ‘cause I’d rather hear your voice
In the darkness of the long long way back home
I want to fall asleep singing softly slowly
In the darkness of the long long way back home

Oh oh oh oh,
Oh oh oh oh
